McCombe Doubles Awards TallyArticle Date: 31 Oct 2007 John McCombe has been named Official Website Man of the Match for the second time in succession following his performance in Hereford's 1-1 draw at Peterborough United on Saturday. Having made his full United debut in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat on penalties to Yeovil Town, McCombe was called upon in the opening 10 minutes of Hereford's next game at Chester City after Dean Beckwith sustained a broken jaw. Following an assured display alongside, captain, Karl Broadhurst in the 1-1 draw at The Deva Stadium, John has capitalised on his opportunity by performing at a level in the following two matches that has earned him the Man of the Match award on both occasions. McCombe will have a new central defensive partner in the match with Darlington at the weekend as Broadhurst serves a one-match suspension having accumulated five yellow cards. Richard Rose and, new loan signing, Robbie Threlfall are available to deputise for The Bulls' skipper. Clint Easton, whose fine finish earned Hereford a point at London Road, finished second with 10% of the vote, whilst Ben Smith - instrumental in midfield alongside Toumani Diagouraga - came third with 8%. Voting for Hereford's man of the match against Darlington at Edgar Street on Saturday will commence shortly after the final whistle.

John McCombe reminds me of a Hereford Utd great - a young Billy Tucker. He is a talent we need to nurture!!
