Smith battles in midfield

Ben Smith has taken an early lead in the Official Hereford United Website Man of the Match vote for United's 1-0 victory over Leeds United.

Smith, who took over as team captain due to the absence of Karl Broadhurst, put in a real captain's performance, and at 12:30pm on Wednesday Smith had already polled 30% of the vote.

Second place is currently occupied by centre back John McCombe, who has recorded 19% of the vote, with goalscorer Lionel Ainsworth close behind with 13% of the vote.

If you've not already cast your vote, then click on the poll on the left hand side of this website. The poll will close at Noon on Friday November 23.

The Man of the Match vote for United's game against Accrington will open shortly after Saturday's match, and will be followed by the November Player of the Month vote.

Smith is going to have to keep playing so well as I see Turner has signed another lad from Liverpool - Flynn who's a CM. We now have 5 loanees from Prem or Championship and it shows that the bigger clubs know that Edgar Street is the place to learn how to play good football, excellent signings as always GT
