Gary Hooper

Speaking after the game, scorer of United's opening goal, Gary Hooper spoke of the importance of today's win.

"It's good to get back to winning ways after two defeats." said Hooper "It's a good win and it was good to keep a clean sheet."

Talking about the atrocious weather conditions in the first half Hooper said "I don't know where that came from! The rain was awful and it was cold too, the pitch wasn't in very good shape either, but we dealt with it and got the result.

"I thought we played good football, we had a few good chances and should have scored" Hooper then described his 43rd minute strike, "My chance came, I just got in front of my marker and hit it as hard as I could, thankfully it went in. It was good play on the right from Trent and a good one-two."

Hooper then commented on the decision by the linesman to award United the 'dubious' own goal "From where I was it didn't seem in, but the linesman gave it - he must have a good eye!

The Bulls frontman also praised United's defence and midfield saying "We were very solid at the back, we defended well from corners and free kicks, we had two good banks of four."

Well said hooper lad and great goal son, lets have a few more like that on tues and lets get 3 points at home sat then we will be back on track,a very good game today we were always going to get 3 points today well done bulls,we must get 3 points on tues as sat games is going to be a hard one as they beat darlington today 2 - 0 and they looked good, but they are not so good on the road, but then again our home form is not great so it will be a close game, unless we can pull them apart like we did against darlington now that would be great, but we do need 3 points from this one if we want to get top spot!!!!!!!!!!!LEAGUE 1 HERE WE COME!!!!!!! THE WHITES ARE GOING UP , THE WHITES ARE GOING UP!! COME ON G.T. AND THE BOYS YOU CAN DO IT , WE ALL KNOW YOU CAN, WE MUST GET AS MANY POINTS AS WE CAN BEFORE WE MEET THE BIG 3.

  • Hoops your a bloody legend already and your only on loan!! Spot on with the two good banks of four, thats us at our best, never mind how other teams setup(Stockport)! If only we could sign this lad come the end of the season? I for one would be willing to pay a 2000th of his transfer fee ( 2000) atleast loyal supporters! The lad would bag us atleast 20/30 goals in a season, come on GT lets do a deal with Southend and buy him out of his contract!! COME ON YOU BULLS!!
