Lord Scudamore Primary School Team AdventureArticle Date: 19 May 2008 Lord Scudamore Primary School football team were the winners of the Hereford Schools under 11 Football in the Community Tournament run by Adriano Girolami in October 2007. All League Two clubs that have a Community Scheme select a school to represent them, selection being made mainly via a local tournament. The selected teams are divided into north and south regions. Lord Scudamore represented Hereford United and were placed in the southern region along with Barnet, MK Dons, Wycombe, Notts County, Shrewsbury, Mansfield, Brentford, and Lincoln City. At the regional final held at Shrewsbury Town F.C. Lord Scudamore were placed in a group of five with the top two progressing to the semi-finals. In the first match against Barnet and after twice taking the lead Lord Scudamore were beaten 4-3 by a late goal. Next Lord Scudamore played MK Dons and ended up very worthy winners by 3 goal to 1. Lord Scudamore then played the strongest team in the group Notts County and were beaten 4-0. The final game was against Wycombe Wanderers which Lord Scudamore won comprehensively 5-1. Notts County won the group winning all their games. Lord Scudamore had 6 points with Barnet and MK Dons. Goals scored decided who would progress. Barnet had 7, the team from Hereford scored 11 but unfortunately MK Dons scored 13. MK Dons went on to win the semi-final and final and will play at Wembley before the League 2 playoff final to be held on Monday 26th May. The team didn’t feel disgraced as they had the knowledge of beating the eventual winners of the tournament. In recognition of this the school were visited by the Football in the Community Officer Adriano Girolami and Hereford United’s Wayne Brown who presented the team with certificates.
