GT visits FA mini-soccer tournamentArticle Date: 23 May 2008 30 Herefordshire FA Charter Standard primary schools descended on Hereford Leisure Centre on Thursday 22nd May to take part in the FA E.ON mini-soccer festival. 44 teams and over 400 year 3 and 4 players participated. No scores or league tables were recorded during the event with the emphasis on enjoyment and fun by just letting the youngsters play. Every young player received a Eon National FA Cup Schools Day Medal and Eon National FA Cup Schools Day Certificate. Each school that participated was asked to make a FA Cup replica as a part of the festival with the best two replica cups winning a new football kit for their respective school. Competition was fierce but a decision had to be made and St. Paul's and Lea Primary Schools were judged to have produced the best replicas and both school received new football strips. Well done St. Paul's and Lea. To make a great day even better promotion winning Hereford United FC manager Graham Turner arrived to present medals to the participants. Following the presentations Graham was mobbed by the pupils wishing to shake his hand to the sound of ‘Only one Graham Turner’. 400 pupils all Hereford United fans left Hereford Leisure Centre extremely happy! Good on you GT and the FA. We need more of this sort of thing, lets get the local schools/community involved again with the club! As much PR in the close season will only help get the crowds through the turnstiles! Well done all! COME ON YOU BULLS!!
