Highlights From Turner InterviewArticle Date: 4 Jul 2008 We bring you the main talking points from today's weekly interview with Bulls supremo Graham Turner... Graham starts off by saying that the players reported back for training on Wednesday looking "very fit - lean, mean, and in good nic at the moment." The Bulls supremo then went on to talk about the capture of centre back, Dean Beckwith, who becomes United's current longest serving player "We're delighted that Dean Beckwith has re-signed for us. Dean has had a couple of good seasons for us. It's good to keep with the players that we know. We know what he's capable of and he seems to be settled here." Talking about young-defender, Garry Breen, who joined The Bulls at the start of the week following his release from Premier League Manchester City, Turner said "An Irish lad, 19 years of age, a big lad and a fair bit of potential. He's someone we can work with, and hopefully it will come off. Turner also confirmed reports that The Bulls were also in talks with Fulham youngster, Bradley Hudson-Odoi, but revealed United were yet to capture his signature, with his signing expected at the start of next week. "We're also going to take Bradley Hudson-Odoi from Fulham, a striker, he played a couple of games in our reserves last season and looked quite impressive, scored goals in the games, so we'll take him in next week and hope he'll do well with us." Looking to the goalkeeping situation, Turner revealed that both a first choice, and reserve-place were close to being secured "We've made strides with goalkeepers. We'll be taking a young lad from Portsmouth by the name of Nick Jordan. He will sign for us, and it looks likely that we'll take a Championship goalkeeper on a season long loan - that's almost a done deal." Good news for Bulls fans is that Toumani Diagouraga is now rated as 'highly likely' to stay at Edgar Street for next seasons campaign, following an impressive season-long loan deal with The Bulls last term. Turner said "It also looks highly likely at this stage that Toumani will re-sign with us, we're still working on it but we are now in intense talks with Toumani and his agent, and we are very close to concluding that one. The only real downside to contract talks of late is the news that Gary Hooper is now unlikely to join The Bulls. Turner explains the situation "The bitter set back has been Gary Hooper, we agreed a fee with Southend, and it looked more than likely to go through, but Gary went on holiday, his agent was away and in that time three other clubs made offers three times the amount that had been accepted by Southend. Naturally enough Southend looked at it and thought why should we accept that when we can get three times as much. "It looks likely that we are going to lose Gary, it's moved into the realms of transfer fees that we can't get involved in." After talking about off the field activities such as The Bulls newly refurbished sponsorship lounges, the recent improvements made to the pitch and United's Football In the Community department Turner then summed out his feelings as to what to expect in the coming 10 months. "I can look through League 1, look through the people involved and the clubs involved and my message to the players is there is no fear. "If we can play with the sort of confidence and spirit that we've played with in recent years we'll be okay." These are only editied highlights, to watch the full 10minute video interview click here.
