Kidderminster 1-0 HerefordArticle Date: 14 Jul 2008 9:30pm: FULL TIME: Kidderminster Harriers 1-0 Hereford 9:29pm: Just a few moments to go in this evenings friendly, and it looks as though United's inability to score, and a costly mistake from new 'keeper, Randolph, will lead to a first defeat in the Bulls 08/09 pre-season campaign. 9:23pm: Sampson is again called into action, tipping a deflected shot behind, although the ball may have already been going wide, it was still good reactions from the 'keeper who was originally going the other way! 9:22pm: Sampson is forced into a fine save low to his right, after a pacey break from the hosts, and a powerful low shot from the edge of the area. 9:21pm: Kidderminster almost seal the win with two missed opportunities. United then go up the other end, with MacLeod seeing his low cross to the near-post turned away and out for a Bulls throw. 9:20pm: Easton sends a left footed free kick into the danger area, and forces the defence to head behind for a corner. Taylor sends the flag kick towards the back post, but it's cleared up field. 9:17pm: Easton sends a shot a couple of yards over the top of the bar, after a good forward run from Jones on the left. 9:13pm: A pacey run from MacLeod on the right, who seems to be growing in confidence, comes to nothing as his final ball drifts into the 'keepers' arms. 9:12pm: Craig Jones joins the action, replacing Ben Smith in United's midfield. Kris Taylor moves into Smith's central midfield role, with Jones slotting into the left back berth. 9:10pm: Guinan sprays a ball from left to right, where MacLeod picks it up and tries to cross, however it gets deflected out for a throw. That 30 yard pass was Guinans final touch of the game, with the former-Cheltenham man being replaced by Gbale. 9:08pm: Christian Gbale has just completed a warm up in front of the press box, and is now receiving his final instructions before being thrown into the fray. 9:04pm: Sampson claims a powerful shot at the second attempt, whilst at the other end, MacLeod sees a powerful right footed drive turned behind for a Bulls corner. 9:02pm: The Bulls bench has become a lot more animated and vocal during the second half so far, and with it, United look a lot more lively. The trouble will be trying to break down a Kidderminster side who are keen to keep hold of their 1-0 lead. 8:57pm: Some more good play from The Bulls, who are certainly playing better than the opening period, sees Diagouraga send a shot wide of the mark from the edge of the area. 8:52pm: Hudson-Odoi gets another opportunity, but this time sends a tame shot towards the home 'keeper, who deals with it easily. 8:49pm: A much better start from The Bulls in the second period. Some good build up play on the right between Smith, Diagouraga, MacLeod and Hunt sees Guinan sell a dummy to let in Hudson-Odoi, however, the former Fulham man turns the wrong way, and into trouble, as Kidderminster clear. 8:46pm: We're underway here in the second half. Kidderminster have made a string of changes, whilst Hereford United bring on Craig Sampson in goal. Richard Rose and Dean Beckwith replace Karl Broadhurst and Garry Breen in the heart of The Bulls defence Hunt also joins the Bulls backline, replacing Reid at right back. . Toumani Diagouraga, Clint Easton and Jack MacLeod join the Bulls midfield, replacing Dobson, Done and Johnson. HALF TIME: KIDDERMINSTER 1-0 HEREFORD Hereford United go into the half time break a goal down, after coming second best in the first 45minutes of action. The only goal of the game so far came early on from Daryl Knights who capitalised on a momentary loss of concentration from Darren Randolph, United's newly signed 'keeper. Randolph, who received a back-pass from Kris Taylor then got caught in two minds over what to do, and upon deciding to dribble past Knights, promptly got tackled. Knights was then left with an open net to tap the ball into. Later on in the game, Randolph made up for his error with a trio of saves to keep United's deficit at just the one goal. At the other end, Bradley Hudson-Odoi has looked lively, and has had a series of opportunities to pull the Bulls level. However, Kidderminster deserve their lead, and have had some good possession throughout the opening exchanges. United look best when they up the tempo, unfortunately this has only been evident on a couple of occasions. Lets hope the second half brings something for the travelling Bulls supporters, about 150 of them, to cheer about. Kidderminster are set to make a complete team change at half time, whilst the Bulls, who have named nine players on their bench, are also likely to make more than a few changes at the half-time interval. 8:27pm: Another spell of neat play from The Bulls, who show off some fast one-touch football, leads to an opportunity, but Simon Johnson fails to get his shot on target. 8:25pm: McDermott sends a powerful shot in on goal from 12 yards out, but Randolph beats it away - making it a trio of fine saves in the last five minutes. 8:23pm: Randolph makes an even better save, this time tipping a powerful shot from Brittain around for a corner. Hopefully the last two saves have given us a better indication as to the type of 'keeper he is, than his blunder early on in the game. 8:20pm: Goalscorer, Knights, is denied from 10yards out with a fine save from Randolph, who turns the ball round for a corner. 8:19pm: A good United spell ends with a Johnson free kick being cleared on the edge of the area, Kidderminster break, and it's Johnson, who tracks all the way back, who turns the ball away for a Harriers corner. 8:17pm Smith and Done who have been quite quiet so far this evening combine on the left, with Done sending in a floating cross to the head of the unmarked Guinan, however, Guins fails to get any purchase, or direction on the header, and the ball sails wide and out for a goalkick. I wouldn't describe United as being on top form, but they've certainly come more into the game more in the last 10minutes or so. 8:15pm: Bradley Hudson-Odoi is certainly United's most threatening player, and former-Bull Andy Ferrell has noticed that too... deciding to bundle the striker over before he could enter the penalty area. The free-kick is sent straight to Kidderminsters' number 1 however. 8:09pm: Another chance for Hudson-Odoi, who again receives the ball with his back to goal, however, his shot on-the-turn is blocked and runs out to Taylor on the left. Taylor, who is having a solid game at left-back, sends a cross to Simon Johnson, who in an off-side position, heads a yard wide. 8:07pm: Hudson-Odoi muscles his way into the box and wins a corner, however Simon Johnson gets far too much power on the flag-kick, and sends the ball out for a throw-in on the opposite side of the pitch. Still, a bit of promise there from The Bulls. 8:05pm: There's not a great deal to write home about, the hosts have had the majority of possession, but the game is being played out in typical friendly-fashion. To pass the time, I've had a rough count up of the Bulls supporters, and worked out there are in the region of 110... give or take! Edit, I've just noticed another 30 or so on the terrace nearest me, so bump the figure up to about 150 travelling Bulls. 7:58pm: A trio of rather enthusiastic Kidderminster supporters cheer infront of me as Kidderminster win the first corner of the game. Randolph calls and punches to the edge of the area, where Ben Smith heads it on to safety. 7:56pm: Hudson-Odoi turns on the edge of the area, before sending a low, left footed shot a yard wide of the right hand upright. Meanwhile Kidderminster make their first change of the game with Jones making way for Riley. 7:53pm: Some neat football from Hereford at last, who have taken the first ten minutes to settle. Taylor chips in a ball down the left for Done, but his left footed cross sails behind the goal, and over the stand into the car-park. 7:48pm: New signing, Randolph get's caught with the ball at his feet, and Knight capitalises, walking the ball into the net to give the hosts an early lead. And just after we'd been praising new-boy Randolph in the press box!! Oops! 7:45pm: We're underway here at Aggborough... Kidderminster Harriers: Coleman, Ferrell, Lowe, Jones, Knights, Penn, Richards, McGrath, Brittain, McDermott, Bowler. Subs: Bignot, Russell, Barnes-Homer, Bartlett, Smikle, Riley, Foley, Taylor, Addagio, McCallum. Hereford United: Randolph, Reid, Taylor, Dobson, Breen, Broadhurst, Johnson, Smith, Guinan, Hudson-Odoi, Done. Subs: Hunt, Sampson, Beckwith, Rose, MacLeod, Diagouraga, Easton, Gbale, Jones.
