Wayne Jones In Physio Room

Hereford United are pleased to offer supporters the chance to receive professional sports injury treatment, from club physio Wayne Jones.

The clinic is available for anyone around Hereford who would like to receive some advice or treatment on acute [recently sustained injuries], or chronic injuries [ongoing injuries].

Wayne says "We have people coming from all over, football clubs, youth clubs and even golf clubs, they've had some treatment, they've been happy with it and recommended us to other people, we've also had a few people who have seen the Injury Clinic on the Official Website and they've got in touch and come down.

"The First consultation and any other following consultations are £15-flat rate. The first consultation is normally a little longer, about 30-40minutes, whilst we look at the injury and find out whats wrong, but sometimes you only need one consultation, I'd treat or give advice and give exercises to do.

"Some obviously need to come back more than once.

"I feel the prices are quite competitive, the injury clinic is run in conjunction with the football club, with all on hand facilities available.

"We've got the gym outside, with weights, treadmill and the static bike, and we can work on different exercises outside.

"Obviously we've also got the equipment here in the treatment room.

"I think in order of preference or importance I'd put exercises, massage and work on the body rather than using the electric equipment that we have such as the ultra-sound, indifferential and mega-pulse and that type of equipment, but it's all here and available should I need to use it. I use a lot of hot and cold therapy and obviously exercises to strengthen and mobilize the area of the body thats injured.

"The facilities here are more than adequate, the gym facilities, the weights we have here are very, very good indeed.

"There's been three or four that I've recommended to go and seek surgeons advice and they've taken the advice and have needed surgery and the problems been fixed from there, so rather than just sitting back and waiting for the pain to go, they were in urgent need of surgery.

"I'm not pleased they've had surgery, but I am pleased that my advice has sorted it out for them."

Appointments must be made in advance by contacting the club offices on 01432 276666. Appointments are held during weekday evenings and occasional Saturday mornings depending upon Hereford United fixtures.

Wayne Jones has a number of years physiotherapy experience under his belt and has had numerous physio roles with various professional football clubs.

Wayne holds the FA Diploma in the Treatment and Management of Injuries.
