Hereford United and midfielder James McQuilkin have parted company.

McQuilkin, who has made 76 appearances, 10 of which came this season, has been released from his contract that would have expired at the end of the season. James scored six goals while at the club.

"After a meeting last night with the chairman, we feel that we have to look to the future and we have decided to part company with James," Foyle told the Official Hereford United Website.

The club will honour James' contract.

The Bulls signed local lad Craig Jones on Thursday following glowing reports from Bulls fans who had recommended him to Foyle.

"We have bought in Craig Jones and listened to the supporters," said Foyle, adding "we feel that we need to see him and other trialists perform from now until the end of the season as we look ahead to next season.

"We would like to thank James for his contribution while at the club over the last three seasons."
