Hereford United secured a second FA Cup success in the space of four days to progress to the fourth round of the competition with victory at Wycombe Wanderers.
Mathieu Manset's prodded effort from a well-worked set-piece after 32 minutes settled the contest, as the visitors recorded a first ever away win against the Chairboys - avenging the league defeat at the same venue just 16 days earlier on Boxing Day.
Manager Jamie Pitman made one change following the seesaw second round replay at Lincoln City. Ryan Green's suspension resulted in Richard Rose being deployed at right-back in a 4-4-2 formation, with Joe Colbeck restored to the right-wing.
Having scored inside the opening five minutes in their previous two matches at Aldershot and Lincoln, United went in search of an early opener once again.
On two occasions they came close to getting it. Kenny Lunt's through-ball released Stuart Fleetwood, whose first touch let him down allowing Alan Bennett to block the striker's shot.
And after Colbeck had angled a header narrowly wide, Fleetwood raced onto Manset's lofted ball forward, only to see his goal-bound effort deflect behind off Bennett again.
Manset then tried his luck from 25-yards - with the Frenchman's volley looping up off a defender and forcing goalkeeper Nikki Bull to tip the ball over the crossbar - as the Bulls bossed the opening 15 minutes of the clash.
But the Chairboys steadily grew into the contest. Kevin Betsy chested a right-wing centre down for Stuart Beavon to slash well wide from the edge of the penalty-area.
Betsy should have fired Gary Waddock's men in front soon after, forcing United custodian Adam Bartlett into a fine reaction stop from close-range.
Bennett then glanced Matt Bloomfield's cross wide, before Gareth Ainsworth flicked Andy Sandell's free-kick against the woodwork with Bartlett beaten.
And after Betsy had squandered a second opportunity to score after seizing on a mistake by Janos Kovacs, the former Fulham forward could only lift the ball over the bar after Scott Donnelly's 20-yard pile-driver had hit Kovacs and fallen favourably for him.
Having weathered the hosts' storm, Hereford hit them with a sucker punch at the opposite end courtesy of a training ground set-piece.
Rose arrived on cue at the back post to meet Fleetwood's deep centre, nodding the ball down for Manset to bundle the ball beyond Bull.
McQuilkin's flag-kick was then fumbled by the Wycombe keeper as United threatened to double their lead before break, with some silky skills from Manset preceding a teasing cross that Fleetwood failed to latch on to.
Hereford had to withstand an onslaught from the home side after the interval as the Chairboys sought a response to Manset's 12th goal since the middle of October.
But Bartlett was relatively untroubled in the Bulls' goal, with the keeper's opposite number forced into making the first meaningful save of the half.
Colbeck meandered down the left-flank towards the edge of the danger-zone, before seeing his low strike diverted wide of the bottom corner by Bull at full-stretch.
Bennett again headed narrowly wide for the hosts, while Stuart Lewis' shot from distance flashed over the angle of post and bar.
However, although Wanderers were piling on the pressure it was Hereford who fashioned the more meaningful openings. Fleetwood missed Colbeck's inviting delivery by an inch before Lunt raced into the penalty-area but lacked options at the crucial moment.
Strikers Scott Rendell and Ben Strevens - who bagged an 87th minute winner against the Bulls on Boxing Day - entered the fray in attempt to force a replay.
And after Lewis had seen a second long-range smash beaten away by Bartlett, the former was presented with one final opportunity deep into stoppage-time but directed his powerful drive agonisingly wide of the far upright.
