Hereford United have been awarded a bye for the first round of this season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The Bulls will not be involved until the second round stage, allowing them to enjoy a valuable rest when the competition begins in the week beginning August 30th.

The draw for the first round will take place live on Sky Sports' Soccer AM show on August 14th.

The 12 sides who have received byes for the opening round of the tournament are:

Northern Section: Bradford City, Burton Albion, Bury, Carlisle United, Crewe Alexandra, Huddersfield Town, Peterborough United, Stockport County.

Southern Section: Barnet, Bristol Rovers, Cheltenham Town, Colchester United, HEREFORD UNITED, MK Dons, Plymouth Argyle, Wycombe Wanderers.

The full breakdown of teams ahead of the first round draw is below:

Northern Section West: Accrington Stanley, Macclesfield Town, Morecambe, Oldham Athletic, Port Vale, Rochdale, Shrewsbury Town, Tranmere Rovers.

Northern Section East: Chesterfield, Hartlepool United, Lincoln City, Northampton Town, Notts County, Rotherham United, Sheffield Wednesday, Walsall.

Southern Section West: Bournemouth, Aldershot Town, Exeter City, Oxford United, Southampton, Swindon Town, Torquay United, Yeovil Town.
