A highly exciting opening month of the new npower League 2 season has come to a close with the announcement of the nominees for the season's first Manager of the Month award.

Paul Buckle, boss of early pace-setters Torquay United, is among the nominees after seeing his side pick up maximum points in August with four successive victories. The Gulls were the only remaining team in the whole of the the npower Football League with a perfect record prior to Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Southend United.
The highlight of their fine form was the hard fought 2-1 away win against Port Vale which took Torquay clear at the top of the table.
Another side who enjoyed a fine start to the season were Shrewsbury Town, remaining unbeaten throughout August. This impressive form, including a 4-0 away win over Stockport County, has seen manager Graham Turner (pictured right) also nominated for the season's first award.
Rotherham United manager Ronnie Moore is also among the nominees after guiding his side to three wins out of four in August.This run of form included a thrilling 6-4 home victory against Cheltenham Town in arguably the game of the season so far.
Chesterfield boss John Sheridan completes the month's line-up of nominees. The Spireites are yet to taste defeat in the Football League this season after two wins and two draws in August, the highlight being an impressive 4-0 victory against Hereford United.
The winner of the award will be announced on Thursday 9th September and presented with the new npower Manager of the Month trophy.
