Hereford United have appealed against the red card issued to central defender Paul Downing aganist Notts County on Saturday.

The West Bromwich Albion loanee saw red in the latter stages of the 5-0 defeat to the Magpies after being adjudged to have deflected Matt Hamshaw's goal-bound strike wide of the post with an arm.

Video replays suggested otherwise.

Depending on the result of the appeal - or when the case is heard - Downing may be able to take part in Tuesday night's local derby at Cheltenham Town.
