With no game last weekend, Hereford United's Under-18s were looking forward to their long-awaited and much-postponed (six times) H.F.A. Giantkillers cup match at Llandrindod Wells on Monday, but alas it was not to be once again.
Llandrindod had to call the match off due to players' unavailability as they had exams the next day, so they also sportingly conceded the game. Hereford now progress to play Bromyard Town on Monday February 13th.
With no under-18 game on the Saturday, Bulls Head of Youth John Layton went to watch the Hereford United U15/16 team play a friendly game against Chelsea at their Cobham training ground in Surrey.
"As you would expect, the facilities and playing surfaces were superb," said Layton.
"The lads were really impressed, maybe too impressed, as Chelsea scored inside the first two minutes.
"However, the players adapted quickly to the pace of the game and put in a very good performance in the four 20-minute periods they played, scoring two goals to Chelsea's five.
"It was a pleasure to see the movement and techniques displayed by the players, and I'm sure the U16s learnt a lot from the day."
Many thanks to the parents and supporters who attended the race night in the Starlite Rooms on Saturday evening in aid of youth development. A good night was had by all.
